Thank you to all who spoke at the drug educational meeting
letter to the editor
To the Editor:

I recently attended my ninth Drug Educational Meeting at the Rittman Community Church on Main Street. You might ask, why would an elderly lady go to so many meetings on drugs? Well, last year in my immediate neighborhood there were two young people who overdosed, so my thoughts were, lady, you need to know all you can on this subject. So, I first attended three meetings which the City of Wadsworth held. Then I attended three meetings held at the Soprema Senior Center in Wadsworth. Both sets of meetings were in Medina County. Then I attended two meetings with Norton Grace Church in Summit County. But there was none to compare with the one I attended yesterday at the Rittman Community Freewill Baptist Church in Wayne County.

In that meeting we heard it like never before. It was straight forward and to the point from the first speaker to the last. You went away truly educated on the subject that is one of the most pressing issues of our state. As in last week's Post, and I quote Forrest Thompson: "Over one-third of one judge's cases were related to drug possessions." But this did not include cases in regards to drug seekers or cases related to drug abuse or addiction. Now is this not an eye opener?

We heard from the Wayne County coroner, the Richland County chaplain, the mother of a deceased drug addict and a recovered or recovering addict. And, to top it off, we also heard from a pastor who buried his son who died from an overdose. As one lady said to me as I was leaving, "It is something to see grown men cry." Tears were shed all over the church!

This was a great effort on the part of that small community church in Rittman and to them I say, "Thank you from the bottom of my heart." Thank you to all who participated and spoke. May God richly bless you and may all your work and the words spoken not fall on deaf ears.
