COLUMBUS – ABOVE: State Representative Steve Hambley (R-Brunswick) presented a resolution honoring Madison Butler on winning the 2016 Division I State Championship in girls golf. A senior at Highland High School, Butler shot a 71 to secure the prestigious state championship title at Ohio State’s Gray Golf Course. Her remarkable achievement follows a fruitful 2016 season, and her resolve, motivation and ability have set her apart as a true champion. “I am very gratified that Madison, her parents, grandparents and Highland High School Athletic Director John Deuber were willing to visit the Statehouse and be recognized today for her scholarship and athletic excellence,” said Hambley. “Her achievement is a noteworthy tribute to herself, her family and the community.”

Ohio Senate President Larry Obhof (R-Medina) also recognized Madison Butler of Highland High School on winning the 2016 State Girls Golf Championship during a special presentation on the floor of the Ohio Senate. Butler, a senior at Highland High School, became the state girls golf co-champion in October, sharing the title with Dublin Jerome junior, Abby Kiefer. She was named The Post Newspapers' 2016 Girls Golf Player of the Year.
