We’re excited to begin an upgrade in our curbside recycling program. Everyone should have received their 64-gallon recycling cart as well as a brochure that outlines the guidelines about recycling, yard waste and white goods collection, and the schedule for affected holidays. Simply mix all acceptable items loose, not bagged, in the new green cart – no separation and no plastic bags needed. Curbside pickup occurs weekly.
The importance of recycling continues to grow as trash costs continue to rise, and all solid waste is disposed at area transfer stations. We believe that this program will allow us to maintain costs in the future. Thank you for your support and participation in our recycling program.
The long awaited Royalton Road (state Route 82) Reconstruction Project will begin in the summer of 2017 with negotiations beginning to acquire property for the project. This project will widen and reconstruct Royalton Road from just east of W. 130th Street to York Road. The roadway will be converted from a two lane roadway with graded shoulders to a three lane curbed facility which meets current ODOT roadway design standards. The roadway will have sidewalks and tree lawns on both sides. The project will install new storm sewers and water lines throughout the corridor. Traffic signal upgrades will be completed at Spruce Run/Walnut Hill Drive, Abbey Road and York Road.
The purpose of the Royalton Road project is to:
• Improve safety and operation
• Reduce traffic delays
• Update the roadway to current design standards
• Modernize the roadway including curbs, storm sewers, and new waterlines
• Better serve pedestrians
Advance tree clearing on the western half of the project is anticipated for early spring of 2018. Major construction on the project is set to start in the summer of 2018 and is to be completed in the fall of 2020. The construction sequence will be designed to limit the time frame that each segment of the roadway experiences construction disturbances.
One final note, with the recent rains that have occurred throughout the area this spring, it is important to remember your responsibility as a homeowner to keep all ditches, swales and drainage ways on your property “free and clear”. Failure to keep these areas unobstructed can result in flooding in areas not intended to flood.
