
The Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) is pleased to announce that Owen Kovalik, an eighth-grader at Medina Christian Academy, won the 2017 ACSI National Spelling Bee that took place in Washington, D. C.
Owen, son of Anthony and Julie Kovalik, was one of 42 fifth through eighth grade students who qualified from among about 14,000 ACSI elementary and junior high students at district and regional competitions. This was ASCI’s 29th national spelling bee.
At the national bee on May 6, Owen won an iPad and a gift card to purchase applications for it.
Owen will also be going to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. at the end of May.
Medina Christian Academy is a pre-K through eighth grade ACSI member school with 215 students.
The school serves a diverse student population from all over the Medina area.
ACSI, headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colo., is comprised of nearly 24,000 member Christian schools in more than 100 nations.
