HINCKLEY – Cleveland Metroparks demolished the Worden House last week, a historical Hinckley home dating back more than 150 years. The demolition upset a group of people who hand-organized an effort to raise funds to help save the home. Worden House was located on Ledge Road and a popular hiking trail, and carvings made by members of the Stuart family in the mid-1800s are located behind the home. The Hinckley Historical Society operated the home until several years ago when the Metroparks said they could not help maintain the home. The Hinckley Historical Society operates out of a historic/home museum in the center of Hinckley and society members said they could not afford to maintain Worden House as well as their main center of operation in the center of Hinckley. Metroparks officials did not return phone calls from The Post regarding the Worden House.
