Salzgeber has the qualities to be a good judge
letter to the editor
To the Editor:
I am a partner in the Medina law firm of Skidmore & Hall Co., L.P.A., and a past president of the Medina County Bar Association. In addition, I am an elected member of the Medina School Board. My father, the late L. Thomas Skidmore, won a hotly contested Republican judicial primary back in May of 1984. He was elected judge of the Medina County Juvenile and Probate Court that November and then re-elected in 1990. As the son of a two-term judge and as an attorney myself, I am very familiar with the qualities necessary in a good judge.

Of the three Republican candidates running for Judge of the Medina Municipal Court, I believe that Joe Salzgeber would make the best judge. In 1996, Joe began working for the Medina County Prosecutor’s Office as the juvenile prosecutor in my father’s courtroom. Joe prosecuted criminal, traffic and OVI cases before the juvenile court. Those are the exactly the types of cases which constitute over 90 percent of the caseload before the Medina Municipal Court. As an assistant county prosecutor, Joe handled felony preliminary hearings before the Medina Municipal Court. After going into private practice, Joe continued to prosecute criminal, traffic and OVI cases in the Medina Municipal Court for an additional year as a part-time Medina City Prosecutor.

As a full-time private practice attorney in Medina County since 2004, Joe has continued to appear and handle cases in the Medina Municipal Court. In short, Joe Salzgeber has the relevant experience necessary to serve as the next judge of the Medina Municipal Court. Joe is also a longtime member, and past president, of the Medina County Bar Association.

Most importantly, Joe is a kind man who has the right judicial temperament for judge of the municipal court. In the upcoming Republican primary on May 2, I respectfully urge Medina-area residents to vote for Joe Salzgeber for judge.
