Most of the news in your newspaper is formulaic
Letter to the editor

To the Editor:

I find it amusing in the publisher's column, where he talks about the supposed "liberal" bias among the media, he uses the phrase "embarrassment to journalism." A phrase that, perhaps not surprisingly, was taken out of the online version of that column – possibly after someone pointed the publisher to the front cover of that very issue, 60 percent of which was taken up by a goofy photo illustration about picking teams in some basketball tournament.

No, the real embarrassment is what's in your paper's news hole each week, most of which is formulaic (page two's column, the publisher's column, guest column, politicians' columns, police blotter, releases from government agencies or schools, reports on government bodies' meetings, obituaries, engagements, etc.) and little of which is enterprise.

Editor's Note: First Tom, nothing was cut from the online version. Maybe you need a new computer or glasses. Second, yes thank you, we try to have as many regular features where people know where to find them as soon as possible. And thanks too for listing the many, many things we cover in Medina every week – for free. So glad you appreciate it. - BT
