I am ashamed by historical society membership
letter to the editor

To the Editor:

In reading about the dwindling membership of the historical society in the March 25 issue of The Norton Post, I felt ashamed.

I have donated many items to the society, especially Van Hyning relics, but never took the time to become a member. I have been treated with such respect and friendliness by Lisa Merrick and Patsy Snyder, both of whom have donated countless volunteer hours over the years. The museum has thousands of irreplaceable items, which relate the history of Norton and the items are exhibited in an orderly manner.

Many Nortonites either are not aware or just haven’t taken the time to visit the treasures that are housed there. We have to keep it going. I am sending my annual membership donation of $15 in immediately and I hope many others will do the same. So sorry I didn’t do it sooner. And thank you, Lisa and Patsy, and all others who have donated their volunteer services over the years.

Address for visitation (special hours) is Norton Historical Society, 4060 Columbia Woods Drive, Norton, Ohio, 44203.
