
Highland High School seniors Georgia Van Fossen and Christopher Wright have been selected as the Medina County Kiwanis’ November Students of the Month.
Van Fossen is a member of the Highland band, Medina County Jr. Leadership and the HHS principal’s advisory committee. She has also served as a peer leader for three years, band squad and section leader and is a member of the student of the month committee and National Honor Society. She received a Freshman Pride Award in mathematics and is a four-year scholar athlete. Outside of school, Van Fossen has volunteered at a children’s ministry and served as a junior camp counselor. She also has her own business, “Headbands with Heart.” She is the daughter of Victoria and Jeffrey Van Fossen of Sharon Township. She plans to attend college upon her graduation from Highland.
Wright serves as VP of National Honor Society, assistant editor of the yearbook, class secretary and participated in the Baldwin-Wallace Music Theatre Camp. He has been a critical member of the St. Baldrick’s Committee for the past few years and has served as a volunteer at the Highland Middle School sixth-grade camp. In addition, Wright is a member of chorale, Added Attraction and Highland Heartbreakers. He has been recognized as a National Merit Finalist, AP Scholar, an Academic Honor Student and received a Freshman Pride Award. The son of Barb and Paul Wright of Montville Township, he also plans to attend college following graduation.
