MEDINA – The U.S.Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, with the assistance of Medina Police, arrested two members of the MS-13 gang in the area of Medina Village Apartments around 7 p.m. Nov. 10 for complicity to commit murder.
Kevin Cruz, 22, and 21-year-old Carlos Cisneros, were wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service and the Prince William County Sheriff in northern Virginia for their alleged role in an Oct. 31 murder.
Marshals report eight members of the notorious MS-13 street gang executed a man in Prince Charles County. The gang members shot the man several times and allegedly sliced him up with a machete. All eight members were charged with the crime and six were quickly arrested in Virginia.
On Nov. 9, the Prince William County Sheriff’s Office requested the assistance of the U.S. Marshal-led Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force to find and arrest the last two, Cruz and Cisneros.
The CARFTF developed information that the wanted gang members were staying at an apartment near the 300 block of Springbrook Drive in Medina off of state Route 57.
The CARFTF reached out to the NOVFTF to apprehend the duo. NOVFTF members set up surveillance around the apartment complex. After a couple hours, officers saw Cruz and Cisneros exit the apartment building and get into a vehicle.
Task force members, with the assistance of Medina Police, conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and arrested Cruz and Cisneros without incident. Both were transported to the Medina County Jail where they will await extradition back to Prince William County.
U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said, “These extremely violent gang members tried to hide from their heinous crime. Due to the cooperation of our task force, the Medina Police Department and the Capital Area Task Force, these dangerous men are behind bars.”
The MS-13 gang was formed in Los Angeles and its membership is predominately Salvadorans and those of Central American ethnicity.
