William R. Dash
William R. Dash, 77, of Litchfield, passed away peacefully with his family at his side, Feb. 17, 2017. Bill was born Sept. 17, 1939 in West Newton, Pa. to the late William E. and Anna K. (nee Monath) Dash.
Bill resided in Pennsylvania until moving to Medina County in 1977. He had served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1961, he was a member of the 864th Army Combat Engineers. He was a member of the North Ridgeville American Legion, Post No. 0717.
Bill was very involved with activities of his children while they were in school.
He was a past Webelo and Boy Scout leader. He was past president of the Buckeye Band Parents and served as the Buckeye Marching Band announcer.
He had been a civil engineer, working with Western Reserve Engineering, Cleveland and retired from Solar Testing Lab in Garfield Heights.
Bill remained active following retirement. He worked at Home Depot in Cleveland and Brunswick and also had newspaper and telephone book routes he delivered.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia, to whom he married June 26, 1965; children, Stephanie Dash (John Pozzi) of North Ridgeville, Dawn (Dennis) Schwartz of Wadsworth, W. Chad (Kellie) Dash of Medina and Jeff (Yvette) Dash of Nutley, N.J.; grandchildren, Samantha Jo Pozzi and Damien Dash; sisters, Dorothy Jean (Jim) Biek, of Shaker Heights and Betty (late Skip) Mostoller, Butler, Pa.
At Bill’s request, there will be no services and cremation has taken place.
Burial will be held at a later date in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a memorial be made to the Wounded American Veterans or to the Breast Cancer Foundation.
The Bauer Funeral Home of Valley City has the honor of serving the Dash family.
