WADSWORTH – Nonprofit agencies from all over the county gathered at The Galaxy Jan. 25 during the annual Wadsworth Area Chamber of Commerce nonprofit fair.
Joe Magnacca, president of the chamber’s board of directors said this annual event gives members of the chamber an opportunity to celebrate all of the nonprofit groups that provide services in the area and also to learn more about these agencies.
“Everyone here has received a booklet with information about the nonprofits,” Magnacca said. “You can use these booklets as a resource guide and act as a resource when you come across someone who requires a need. There is also volunteer information and contact information. Take some time to learn about these great organizations that serve our community.”
Lori Wilkinson attended the event to share information about the Soprema Senior Center and Café.
“A lot of the professionals here are seniors so we want to let them know about the senior center and our café,” she said. “This also gives us an opportunity to look for businesses that might want to partner with us. We have a lot of opportunities for professional friends and especially senior minded businesses might want to get involved with our programming and events. There are a lot of opportunities.”
Cassie Shaum, of Head Start, said she has attended the nonprofit fair for the last four years.
“It seems like I can meet all kinds of possible partners that you normally wouldn’t find,” she said. “This is a good opportunity to make community partnerships with different groups – you have a need, I have a need. These partnerships are very important.”
Mark Trew, of Alternative Paths, said the event is a good chance to network and seek out volunteers. His organization provides services in the field of behavioral health throughout Medina County.
