Cheese stands alone

Kitchen Table Bakers ParmCrisps, made entirely of aged Parmesan, are as irresistible as potato chips. Rounds of the cheese are melted into wafer-thin, lacy, crunchy, oven-baked crackers and have appealing nutty and tangy flavors. Wheat-, gluten- and sugar–free, they come plain or in varieties with herbs and seeds, like rosemary, Italian herb, flax, and chia seeds ($5.99 for 3 ounces). Barry Novick first developed the Parmesan crisps in his home kitchen when he was tinkering with baking snacks to help him maintain a healthy diet. When friends and family clamored for batches, he knew his snack was a hit and in 2003 launched the Syosset, N.Y., company. Use them for dipping or as a canape. Once you open the bag, you’ll be reaching for them like chips. Available at Wasik’s Cheese Shop, 61 Central St., Wellesley, 781-237-0916; Shaw’s, Roche Bros., and Wegmans locations, or go to www.kitchentablebakers.com.
