As a Wisconsin native, House Speaker Paul Ryan is probably more used to a Midwestern fish fry than a lobster dinner. But that’s exactly what he and his family got when they visited the Lobster Trap in Bourne Thursday night.

Owner David Delancey said Ryan dined at the restaurant with his wife and kids, and that everyone had lobster. Delancey added that he later spent time discussing the differences between New England seafood restaurants and Wisconsin supper clubs.

“They ordered all kinds of good stuff,’’ he said. “He was a super nice guy. I ended up talking with him and his wife for quite a while.’’

Ryan was also spotted sporting summery attire at the Falmouth Harbor Marina.

Ryan’s Cape trip wasn’t all about leisure, however. While Ryan isn’t running for reelection in the fall, the speaker was in town for a Friday evening fund-raiser to benefit House Republicans running in 2018.

“As part of his summer fund-raising swing, Speaker Ryan will bring the ‘Better Off Now’ message to Massachusetts today to raise resources for House Republicans and explain how our positive agenda is pushing this economy to new heights,’’ Ryan spokesman Jeremy Adler said in an e-mail Friday.
