By his own estimation, comedian and “Eighth Grade’’ director and screenwriter Bo Burnham manages to make the trip home to Massachusetts from Los Angeles around four times a year to visit friends and family. And when he’s back, the Hamilton native told us he has a few favorite establishments he makes sure to frequent.

Super Sub Shop

At this family-owned spot in Beverly that specializes in steak sandwiches, Burnham said his go-to order is the roast beef.

New Brothers Restaurant & Deli

Burnham prizes this Greek-American restaurant in Danvers for its “Turkey Dinner.’’

Liberty Tree Mall

When Burnham was home last month, he visited the AMC theater attached to this Danvers destination to host a friends and family screening of “Eighth Grade.’’ Burnham said it was “really awesome’’ to be back at the mall that meant so much to him growing up. A mall is also part of the plot of his new film. The movie’s protagonist, 13-year-old Kayla, achieves a personal triumph at the mall, when the high school senior she shadows invites her to hang out with her and her friends. KEVIN SLANE, Boston.com
