Lowell M. “Butch” Duerk, of Wadsworth, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 87 on Feb. 20, 2017.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 6 at 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church 146 High Street, Wadsworth. The celebration of Butch’s life will continue at the Galaxy Restaurant in Wadsworth.

Butch spent his entire professional career at Firestone Tire and Rubber company at the headquarters in Akron. He lived in Wadsworth Ohio since 1966, where he and Phyllis raised their two sons, Barry of Vancouver, Wash. and Jeffrey of Avon Lake.

Butch was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis; his longtime companion, Persis (Newhard) Snoke of Wadsworth; and leaves his companion Mary (Gebhard) Dalton of Midland Mich. He also leaves behind Lisa (Gronbach) Duerk, wife of Barry, and their children Megan and Nina. He also leaves Cindy (Macura) Duerk, wife of Jeffrey and their children Emma and Christian.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grace Lutheran Church.

His cremation was handled by Englewood Community Funeral Home in Florida at the time of his death.
