


Auditor announces seals design contest winners

Mike Kovack, Medina County auditor, announced the winners of the Annual Weights and Measures Seal Design Contest Jan. 30 at an awards ceremony held at the Medina County Career Center Café.
Andrew Shea and Natalie Watts, both of the Medina County Career, took home first place awards in the “Inspected and Sealed” and “Price Verification” categories, besting over 200 other entries. Shea is a junior and his home school is Brunswick High School. Watts is a senior and her home school is also Brunswick. Both students’ designs will be featured on gas pumps and cash registers throughout the county and their names will appear on every seal. They each received a $75 prize.
Other finalists for the “Inspected and Sealed” award were Colin Hitch of Wadsworth High School, Kara Hause (Brunswick High School) of the MCCC, Megan Barnes of Wadsworth High School, Morgan Herwerden (Brunswick High School) of the MCCC and Hannah Petrosky of Medina High School.
Finalists for the “Price Verification” category were Joe Harris (Cloverleaf High School) of the MCCC, Julian Altman of Wadsworth High School, Clara Watkins (Medina High School) of the MCCC, Ryan Broslawik (Brunswick High School) of the MCCC and Zachary Sommerville of Black River High School. The designs of all the finalists will also be featured on measuring devices throughout the county.
