The Seaport District’s renaissance is great and all, but some stylish types might argue that without a place to get a decent cut, color, and blow-dry, it might as well sink back into the harbor.

Luckily, it won’t come to that. Salon Mario Russo, the high-end hairdresser with another location on Newbury Street, will reopen in the Seaport on July 1 after a nearly yearlong absence from the burgeoning neighborhood.

The salon, which closed its temporary Northern Avenue location — next to now defunct boutique Louis — last August, will make use of a 1,300 square-foot space in the Fan Pier neighborhood’s Twenty Two Liberty building. The design of the salon has been overseen by Russo himself.

“We’ve been eagerly awaiting our return to the Seaport with a newly designed salon in a highly sought after location,’’ Russo said, in a statement. The luxury condos at Twenty Two Liberty are sold out, according to the development’s website.

Along with 20-foot ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows to fill the space with natural light, the salon will also include a gallery’s worth of art commissioned for the space, a nod at its proximity to the Institute of Contemporary Art, where Russo works with the collections committee.

“Showcasing contemporary art creates a dialogue between myself and the clients,’’ Russo said. “My intention is that the art, combined with the outdoor views of the water and the park, will create a calming and serene experience for our clients.’’

That serene space may come in handy for the residents of the up-and-coming neighborhood. With General Electric staked out nearby and nonstop development in all directions, proximity to a soothing sudsing and scissoring may soon prove a valuable amenity.

“I’m proud that we are still the first luxury salon in the Seaport,’’ Russo said, “and we can’t wait to welcome our valued clients back to a beautiful new experience.’’
