The number of years humans have been painting aspirational “food porn.’’ A new study by researchers at Cornell University found that in paintings from the years 1500 to 2000, artists were more likely to depict exotic foods like artichokes and lobsters than their typical diets of veggies and bread. If Instagram is any measure, it looks like souped-up meals aren’t going away anytime soon.
