DUXBURY — In his first game back in close to two months, wide receiver Ryan Reagan was much more than just a decoy.

After missing seven games with a broken bone in his foot, Reagan returned to action and finished with seven receptions for 87 yards and two touchdowns, and top-seeded Duxbury (10-0) motored past third-seeded North Attleborough, 26-19, on Friday night, winning the Division 2 South title.

Reagan and quarterback Bobby Maimaron worked in tandem to put Duxbury ahead early, and the Dragons’ defense was able to maintain the margin.

Maimaron finished 15 of 27 for 187 yards and three touchdown tosses, leapfrogging Troy Flutie to become the state’s all-time leader with 113 career TD passes. He also had a running score.

“Bobby’s humble about everything, but everyone knows he’s the best QB in the state,’’ senior Nick Gearin said.

Duxbury (10-0) jumped in front, 6-0, four minutes into the game when Maimaron scored from 1 yard out. Duxbury extended its lead to 12-0 midway through the second quarter when Maimaron hit James Miele down the right sideline for a 34-yard TD.

North Attleborough (8-2) scored late in the half to slice the deficit to 12-7 going into the break. Maimaron threw a costly interception and QB Chad Peterson found Kyle McCarthy for a 30-yard score as time expired.

Duxbury marched downfield midway through the third, and eventually Maimaron fired a laser from 3 yards out to Reagan on fourth and goal for a TD. That made it 19-7.

Reagan scored again early in the fourth, making a tremendous grab in the back left corner of the end zone. North Attleborough scored twice late, but was unsuccessful on two onside kicks, and Duxbury survived.

“To get a win against North Attleborough is a big accomplishment for our team,’’ Duxbury coach Dave Maimaron said.
