Re Michael A. Cohen’s Aug. 2 op-ed “Republican leaders stand by their man’’: Republicans stand by their man for the same reason a lot of us will vote, very reluctantly, for Hillary Clinton in November. As most of us realize, the next president will shape the Supreme Court for decades to come.

I will look beyond the flawed candidate that Clinton is because I think the country will be best served by the Supreme Court appointments she will make. The Republican leadership should certainly be allowed the same sentiment.
