After months of speculation following the high-profile release of “The Life of Pablo,’’Kanye West has officially announced his first North American tour in three years.
The acclaimed musician will kick off what he’s calling The Saint Pablo Tour on Aug. 25 in Indianapolis before launching an ambitious fall season that will bring his sure-to-be newsworthy show to almost 40 cities across the United States and Canada – including Boston’s TD Garden on Sept. 3.
“The Life of Pablo’’ set records when it first arrived on streaming service Tidal, becoming the only album in history to debut at the top of the Billboard 200 chart based only on numbers from streaming. To date, the LP, West’s seventh, has not been released in any other format.
The tour will mark the first time that fans will get to hear West perform material from “The Life of Pablo,’’ aside from unannounced pop-up appearances in New York following the cancellation of the final day of the Governors Ball Music Festival on June 5, because of severe weather.
In an e-mail to Tidal subscribers, West’s management referred to The Saint Pablo Tour as “the most anticipated concert event of the year,’’ and it’s not hard to see why given West’s penchant for sonic and visual spectacle.
American Express cardholders and those seeking VIP treatment can buy tickets from now June 17, at 10 p.m., while TIDAL subscribers can purchase their seats through a special presale starting June 16. All remaining tickets go on sale June 18, at www.ticketmaster.com.
