sharp to be square

The new Food Slicer from Microplane ($20) is a 3-inch cube container with razor-sharp blades, which the company is known for; it looks similar to their space-saving Cube Grater. The tool has 1-cup capacity and cuts perfect slices of smaller foods, like strawberries, grapes, hard-boiled eggs, mushrooms, and more. Place the food on top of the serrated blades and the cube–shaped cover over the container. With one press, it quickly cuts uniform, ¼-inch-thick slices. A small scraper is included to clean the blades. Available at Bed Bath & Beyond, Market Place at Braintree, 400 Grossman Drive, Braintree, 781-849-8030, and Williams-Sonoma store locations.
