To the Editor:

A catastrophic week for America! A sitting president demands in his first State of the Union address that the rule of law be overthrown! And the members of his party who "represent" us have nothing to say!

A legend in the Senate and former candidate for the White House reveals that his cancer is almost certainly terminal, but president No. 45 can't resist the opportunity to slam the Senator and compare himself as a much superior person.

McCain's affliction may date back to his service in the Vietnam War, the war of my youth and the trigger of the social explosion that changed this country forever. McCain, from a military family, volunteered to be a Navy pilot and when his plane was shot down, suffered a horrendous injury at the hands of the VietCong. Trump, from a family of unscrupulous "businessmen" (if you count prostitution as a business), avoided his duty to serve his country saying, "I've been lucky in terms of that (contracting sexually transmitted diseases). It's a dangerous world out there. It's scary like Vietnam. I feel like a great and very brave soldier." Personally, I think he has a fat lot of nerve to even address McCain.

A private aside: Thanks, Joan.
