Mark Wahlberg loves to golf. The Dorchester-bred actor, who was among the celebs who had the pleasure of teeing off at Pebble Beach in February, takes the game seriously and enjoys hitting the links whenever he can.

Wahlberg recently posted an impressive photo of his backyard on Instagram, accompanied by the following caption: “Shout out to Dominic Nappi and his crew at Back Nine Greens. They built an unbelievable golf practice complex in my backyard.’’

Back Nine Greens is an artificial grass company based in Palm Desert, Calif., that specializes in synthetic lawns and artificial grass putting greens. According to the company’s Facebook page, Wahlberg got an artificial putting green complete with tee boxes, bunkers, first cut, and fringe.

Nappi said Wahlberg is “a great guy’’ and it was a “pretty fun job’’ transforming his backyard into a golfer’s paradise.

“He wants the best, and that’s what we do,’’ said Nappi, in a telephone interview. “I’ve been doing this for a long time.’’

Back Nine Greens has some well-known customers, including Carson Daly, Jessica Alba, Matt Damon, Valerie Bertinelli, former Major League Baseball Commissioner Peter Ueberroth, Hall of Fame catcher Johnny Bench, and former NFL running back Terrell Davis.

For Wahlberg’s project, Nappi added some personal touches, including flags emblazoned with the letter “W.’’

“He can hit a chip shot into the green,’’ said Nappi. “There are a few different greens there.’’

“He’s like a little kid in a candy store,’’ he said.
