Here’s a quick look at the accommodations that people with disabilities can expect during the 2017 Sail Boston ceremony Saturday.
There are no viewing areas specifically reserved for people with disabilities except for in the grandstands along Fish Pier and the waterfront bleachers on Kennedy Avenue. Both of those areas require tickets and are sold out, said Robin Reibel, a spokeswoman for Sail Boston.
There are however several areas around the city that will be designated as handicapped only parking.
These sections of road will be closed starting Saturday from 12:01 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Seaport
Seaport Boulevard from the south side of the bridge to B Street.
North End
Commercial Street from Hannover Street to Jackson Avenue.
Charlestown
No street closing, but there will be handicap-only parking spots near the Sail Boston bus stops near 5th Street.
South Boston
William J. Day Boulevard from Farragut Road along the harbor walk.
East Boston
No street closing, but handicap-only parking spots near the Maverick MBTA station.
Reibel offered this advice to those coming to Sail Boston.
“Be a good consumer of information. Know where you’re going to go and come early. Be preapred for distances and crowds, but also be prepared to enjoy yourself,’’ she said.
