For the second time in three games, Boston College took a lead into halftime in the Eagles’ bid for their first Atlantic Coast Conference win of the season.
Once again, it wasn’t enough.
Jaron Blossomgame scored 23 points and Clemson kept its long-shot NCAA Tournament hopes alive with a 65-54 victory over BC on Wednesday night in Greenville, S.C.
The Tigers (16-10, 9-5) trailed, 34-31, at the half and were down, 43-42, with 12 minutes left before going on a 16-5 run to gain control and send the Eagles (7-19, 0-13) to their 13th straight loss.
BC’s leading scorer, Eli Carter, was 1-of-17 shooting to end with 5 points, 11 fewer than his season’s average. Dennis Clifford had 17 points to lead the Eagles.
BC surpassed its previous worst losing streak of 12, set in 1999-2000 as members of the Big East.
Coach Jim Christian said his team has not shown signs of giving in during a poor season and perhaps played its best three-game stretch in losing to North Carolina (68-65), Syracuse (75-61), and at Clemson.
‘‘Our young guys are getting a little more experience and just have to hang in there,’’ Christian said. ‘‘As I told the guys, it’s not easy, but I’m impressed with what they’re doing.’’
BC made 13 of 28 shots in the opening half after entering dead last in ACC field goal shooting. The Eagles were 6 of 14 from behind the arc, after coming in 13th in that category in ACC play. BC rallied from 9 points down early to grab the 3-point halftime lead on Sammy Barnes-Thompkins’s second 3-pointer of the period with 47 seconds left.
Donte Grantham put the Tigers up for good, 45-43, with a 3-pointer before Blossomgame’s two foul shots.

Allen hit a pair of free throws with 1:09 left for the lead on a night when the Blue Devils trailed most of the way. Then Duke came up with a pair of stops in the final minute, first on a shot attempt inside in traffic by Kennedy Meeks. Then, on UNC’s final possession, Thornton blocked Joel Berry II’s shot in the lane. Allen rebounded the ball and flung it into the air to let the final seconds expire, and then the players raced to the bench to mob each other and celebrate.

Coach Geno Auriemma chose not to start Stewart, a two-time national player of the year, or his two other stars, Moriah Jefferson and Morgan Tuck.
