Trump followers must be so proud of their new president
letter to the editor
To the Editor:
In 2000, the Republican party gave us a smirking, tongue-twisted president who probably could have prevented 9/11 if, during his month-long August 2001 vacation, he had paid attention to multiple president's daily briefs (Trump is already skipping some) warning of imminent terrorist attacks on U.S. soil.
His foreign policies led to two poorly planned, unwinnable wars (Trump: I love war.") and his economic policies of tax cuts and less regulations (also Trump's position) led to the worst all-encompassing economic meltdown since the Great Depression, with millions of jobs lost, millions of homes foreclosed, the auto industry on the verge of bankruptcy and $16 trillion lost in investments and retirement funds in the stock market. Republicans want us to forget that President Obama turned Bush's debacles around.
Now, in 2016, the "family values" party gives us a president-elect who bullied, slandered and humiliated other people; who set records for pants-on-fire lies; who used vulgar language to describe his sexual assaults on women and to denigrate them; whose delusion of seeing thousands of Muslims cheering in New Jersey on 9/11 spread hatred against a religion; who disparaged genuine war hero John McCain, but himself felt "like a great and very brave soldier" because he didn't get AIDS; who has so little respect for the office of president and more concern for increasing his personal wealth that he's keeping his job as executive producer of his lame reality show; and whose First Lady/third wife provides sexual fantasies for tens of millions of men and women around the world.
How proud Trump followers must be.
