To the Editor:
“Akron Children’s Hospital was approved by the Medina Board of Education last week, but was nixed by the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. The Cleveland Clinic Foundation is a major donor/sponsor at the rec center and holds the right of first refusal with other potential hospital sponsors.”

In my opinion, the Cleveland Clinic advertises on television and in other means as being there for our community; yet, when it comes down to it, they have removed the Medina Hospital Birthing Center making it so there is no place in the entire county for a woman to have a baby.

Now they are limiting who they will “allow” to sponsor a community recreation center.

The Cleveland Clinic seems to make enough money. Is there any reason they cannot play fair or friendly with other entities, whether it is another hospital or not?

There should be no reason why another hospital who would like to share and sponsor a community area should not be able to do so.

Akron Children’s Hospital treats a lot of children in our area and if they want to donate to our community, they should be able to do so.
