Talented song-and-sometime-dance man Mandy Patinkin was the special guest at this week’s “Presidents at Pops’’ at Symphony Hall. The “Homeland’’ star, who has an Emmy and Tony in his trophy case, performed several songs at the gala fund-raiser, which raised more than $800,000 to help support the BSO’s education and community engagement programs. (He last performed with the Pops in 1995 at conductor Keith Lockhart’s inaugural concert.) The show also included a musical tribute to late Staples founder and BSO trustee Tom Stemberg that featured performances by Pops clarinetist Thomas Martin, R&B singer Glenn Leonard of the Temptations, and jazz singer Landau Eugene Murphy Jr., winner of the sixth season of “America’s Got Talent.’’
