Recent bird sightings as reported to the Massachusetts Audubon Society:
?Provincetown: A yellow-billed loon that was first spotted more than a week ago near Race Point beach was still present as recently as Wednesday. At least two Pacific loons, two glaucous gulls, and multiple Iceland gulls were also seen in the same area.
?Winthrop: A report from Winthrop Beach highlighted a western grebe off of Winthrop Shore Drive, as well as a Lapland longspur in a flock of 55 snow buntings.
?Sharon: At Moose Hill Wildlife Sanctuary, there were two wood ducks, 17 American woodcocks, an eastern screech-owl, and a great horned owl.
?Concord: At Great Meadows National Wildlife Refuge, there were seven green-winged teal, nine ring-necked ducks, four hooded mergansers, a great blue heron, a bald eagle, two killdeer, two tree swallows, a fox sparrow, 300 red-winged blackbirds, and 75 common grackles.
?Miscellaneous: Reports included two redheads at Niles Pond in East Gloucester; a king eider at Webb Memorial State Park in Weymouth; the continued presence of a red-headed woodpecker at Broad Meadow Brook Conservation Center and Wildlife Sanctuary in Worcester; and a lark sparrow at Fort Hill in Eastham.
