WADSWORTH – An upcoming evening hosted by the Wadsworth Area Historical Society will take guests back in time as they enjoy Civil War songs and stories shared by musician and re-enactor Steve Ball Saturday Nov. 10 at Memory Lane Event Center, 456 College St.
“This is the historical society’s third annual fundraiser,” said Kate Smith, a member of the Wadsworth Area Historical Society committee. “Steve is pretty well known in the area at Civil War events and he is very entertaining. He does several programs. This one he will be doing some singing and giving some back story as to where these songs originated.”
Guests will also receive a visit from President and Mrs. Lincoln, who will be hosting some VIP guests at their table.
There will be a silent auction throughout the event, which will include a variety of gift cards, homemade items, baskets, services and more. Guests must pay for the baskets with cash or check before leaving the event.
A Civil War-themed meal will be catered by The Tasting Room, which will include smoked chicken, potato hash, vegetables, a roll and salad.
After dinner, guests can enjoy an updated “Mary Todd Lincoln Cake” provided by SugarStoned.
All tickets include tea, water, coffee, one or two tickets for wine and a full cash bar is also available.
VIP tickets are available which includes better seating, two wine tickets and eating first. Cost is $40 for historical society members and $45 for nonmembers. General seating includes one drink ticket plus the meal and the cost is $30 for members and $35 for nonmembers.
All attendees must be 21 and over. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will end at approximately 9 p.m.
“We offer a lot of free events throughout the year and this fundraiser helps to support those,” Smith said. “It also helps with the preservation of our building.”
