No charges have been filed after a Quincy man died Friday when he was struck by a taxicab that had just dropped him off in front of his home, police said Saturday.
The taxicab driver, who was working for Yellow Cab of Quincy, stayed at the crash site and spoke with investigators after his vehicle hit Robert Noyes, 68, around 2 p.m. Friday, said Quincy Police Captain John Dougan.
The driver, whose name was not released, had taken the man from Weymouth to his home at 135 Quincy Ave. in Quincy, Dougan said.
“There are no charges at this time because it’s under investigation,’’ he said.
Officers found Noyes lying in the street behind the taxicab and suffering from head wounds, Dougan said. He was taken to Boston Medical Center, where he died, Dugan said.
Dougan said the driver did some paperwork in his vehicle before putting the car in reverse and striking Noyes.
“He dropped off the fare, and when he went to leave, he put the car in reverse and the party that had gotten out of the cab was struck,’’ Dougan said.
A woman who answered the phone at Yellow Cab of Quincy Saturday morning said no one would be available to discuss the crash until Monday.
E-mails seeking comment from company employees were not immediately returned Saturday.
