The Verb Hotel hosted a swinging party to celebrate the latest batch of rock ’n’ roll memorabilia to go on permanent display at the former Fenway Motor Lodge. The pictures, posters, and other ephemera come from the vast archives of David Bieber, a Boston rock historian who worked for many years at WBCN and the Boston Phoenix. (Artifacts include a handbill for a show by Van Morrison at the Catacombs, a subterranean club on Boylston Street, when Morrison was living on Green Street in Cambridge; a sealed vinyl copy of “The Velvet Underground, March 13th, 1969,’’ a recording of the band performing at the Boston Tea Party; a flier for the Cars’ four-night stand at the Rat in 1977; and backstage laminates for the free Green Day show at the Hatch Shell in 1994 that lasted all of 12 minutes.) As part of the festivities, the hotel restaurant Hojoko held its first rock show, featuring performances by female-fronted bands Abbie Barrett, Radio Compass, and Stars Like Ours. Joining Bieber at the bash were Verb Hotel owner Steve Samuels, developer Robin Brown of Spot-On Ventures, Hojoko owners Tim and Nancy Cushman, former Phoenix exec Brad Mindich, Boston Music Awards owner Paul Armstrong, Betty Fulton of the Boston Antiquarian Book Fair, Vanyaland’s Michael Marotta, Sonos execs Joy Howard, Andrew Schulert, and Jason Kendall, Sneaker Museum’s Rick Kosow, and Girls Rock Campaign Boston cofounder Hilken Mancini.
