RE “REPUBLICANS in Congress distance selves from Trump comments’’ (BostonGlobe.com): Republicans are missing the full context of this story.

Of course, Donald Trump was stupid for falling for the bait the Clinton campaign set for him. There are few things so touching as parents grieving a child lost in war. Soldiers of every ethnicity died, but Hillary Clinton and the Democrats chose a Muslim family to make a point, and had them attack Trump, which was unconscionable. The Khans should not have been political foils.

Both Clinton and Trump should be ashamed of themselves, but in this election, common decency is in short supply.
