To the Editor:
How paradoxical that during this season of Advent, while Christians prepare to celebrate the birth of Christ our Savior, that far too many people believe that women should continue to have access to a procedure that ends in the death of their baby. The messiah was carried in the womb of his mother Mary and went through all the stages of development that the rest of humanity does. Our Blessed Lady had a choice too – she chose to say “yes” to God’s plan for her life. Mothers, as bearers of life, represent the heart of the home. As a Catholic Christian, I believe that God the Father, through his son, was blessing and sanctifying life in the womb.

What about St. Joseph? He could have divorced Mary but he also said “yes.” The role of men designated by God is to defend and provide for their wives and children. Pregnancy cannot be achieved without the cooperation of God and one man and one woman, marriage is blessed and sanctified as well. From creation to the end of time, this is what God has ordained as good and proper.
