It does behoove us to note Trump’s words

Prior to even seeing the paper last Sunday, I saw that there had been a lot of comments from people responding to news stories about the mock front page that the Globe was planning for the Ideas section, worrying that it would scare senior citizens, that it showed the Globe’s liberalism, and that it was reckless.

Given that it was NOT the actual front page that people would see first, and that it was NOT news reporting but rather editorial opinion, it was well within the right of the paper to publish it. Congratulations to the editorial staff for a job well done.

It does behoove people to remember Trump’s own words. The only issue is that, by virtue of his own words, the Globe would be in great trouble under his plans to tighten libel laws.

As an unenrolled voter (and I hate that term), I generally tend to vote Republican, but I have no idea what I’m going to do in November other than NOT vote for Trump. I don’t want to live in a world where freedom of speech and freedom of the press are stifled and where hate is the daily mantra.
