Pitching ‘Spaceman’

The poster for the new movie “Spaceman,’’ about former Red Sox pitcher Bill Lee, is out. In the film, which arrives like an eephus pitch in theaters Aug. 19, Josh Duhamel plays the free-spirited lefty who, during his playing days, used to sprinkle marijuana on his pancakes. (Hey, Lee made the All-Star team in 1973, so give him a break.) The movie, directed by Brett Rapkin and based on Lee’s book, “The Wrong Stuff,’’ chronicles the pitcher’s life with the French Canadian Longueuil Senators after his release by the Montreal Expos. Duhamel is best known for his roles in the “Transformers’’ movies — and as the husband of Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas. The poster shows Lee sitting on a van holding what looks like wacky tobacky.
