The World Cup ski races planned for Vermont’s Killington Resort Nov. 26-27 are officially a go.

The International Ski Federation on Thursday confirmed the event after inspecting the conditions on the Superstar trail. Killington has been making and stockpiling snow since October for the women’s slalom and giant slalom races.

At one point there was 20 feet of snow at the top of Superstar, according to Killington spokesman Michael Joseph.

“This positive snow control news from FIS reinforces what we already knew — that Killington has ample snow on Superstar to host the world’s fastest female ski racers,’’ said Mike Solimano, Killington’s general manager, “and our mountain operations team has the knowledge and horsepower to make more snow in the early season than any other ski area in the country.’’

Killington will host the first World Cup skiing event in New England since 1991, when Waterville Valley in New Hampshire hosted the World Cup finals.

Grandstand and VIP tickets for the World Cup are sold out, but general admission is free. The event will also include a World Cup expo and free concert by the music group O.A.R. on Nov 26.
