Suffolk University added two new trustees to its board Friday, leaving two more openings after four members concluded their terms.

In an e-mail to faculty, board chairman Robert Lamb said the new members are Trish Gannon, executive vice president of finance and planning and chief financial officer for the Boys & Girls Club of Boston; and Larry Smith, co-founder of the Nation Safe Drivers Group in Boca Raton, Fla.

Both hold Suffolk degrees. Smith and his brother, Michael, donated $1.1 million in 2014 to the school’s new Somerset Street academic building. Gannon was previously CFO of Merrimack College.

Suffolk is trying to remake its image after a bitter battle broke out in January between the trustees and then-president Margaret McKenna. The board ultimately fired McKenna in July but not before facing criticism inside the school and out about its leadership of the downtown university known for its business and law schools.

In his e-mail Friday, Lamb said interim president Marisa Kelly participated in the process of adding new trustees. As with all nonprofits, presidents report to the board.

The board also elected the following trustees to another five-year term: John Brooks, Jeanette Clough, Dan Conley, John Fernandez, Macey Russell, Marshall Sloane, and Mark Sullivan.

The terms of the following trustees ended this month: Bob Sheridan, Damian Wilmot, David Doberman, and Julie Kahn.
