Republicans are committed to states’ rights when states want to discriminate against minorities and pollute. They are committed to personal freedom and responsibility when it’s about owning guns and finding your own health care insurance. Those commitments don’t hold when it comes to states allowing marijuana use or to allowing California to keep its own strict auto emission rules.
