Resident of Saratoga

With hearts overflowing and a deepening sense of sadness, we announce the passing of our extraordinary father, Gerald Dominick Butler, who left us on April 8, 2025, at the age of 86, due to complications from congestive heart failure.

Gerald was a one-of-a-kind, exceptional individual, known for his wonderful sense of humor, love, strong wit, ambition, and super intelligence, which inspired us with his insightful perspectives.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Gerald grew up in the picturesque town of Hingham with two brothers and five sisters; two sisters survive him. He was raised Catholic and an altar boy atSt. Paul's Parish. He was known as his family's protector, and he adored his siblings. In this close-knit, humble family environment, amidst the sea breeze and the call of adventure, he developed a lifelong passion for the sea, building, and real estate. After graduating from Hingham High School, he pursued his passion for the sea and his love of water vessels at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy. He thrived as a student-mariner, broadening his horizons by traveling the world and enjoying the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life.

Gerald was a trailblazer, a visionary who pioneered new paths in electrical engineering, land development, real estate, and entrepreneurship. His boundless energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm inspired others, and his legacy will continue to inspire future generations. He believed in giving back and volunteered in his community, including St. Mary's Church in Los Gatos and the Valle Monte League. Still, his greatest joys were his family and being their protector and provider.

Surrounded by his loving wife, Judith, with whom he shared 66 years of marriage, and his devoted daughter, Suzanne, Gerald passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will continue to inspire and uplift those who knew him.

Gerald is survived by his loving wife, Judith; his three children, Suzanne, James, and Jeanne; his six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Gerald's most significant legacy is the love and devotion he shared with his family. He was a rock for his wife, Judith, and their children, Suzanne, James, and Jeanne.

His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched, and we will continue to honor his memory by living our lives with the same love, kindness, and enthusiasm that he embodied.

A Celebration of Gerald's Life will be held at a later date, and we invite friends and family to join us as we share stories, memories, and laughter.
