Joan passed away peacefully with her family by her side. She was 94 years old. Joan was born in Coeur d’Alene, ID to James Vesser and Bertha Dakin. She was the middle child of three children. Brother James and sister Dolores (both deceased). Joan was married to her loving husband James Galletly for over 70 years (deceased).
She is survived by her sons, Stephen, Darrel, Mark, ten grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren. Sons David and Michael are deceased. Joan grew up on the banks of Lake Coeur d’Alene, ID and lived in various Northwest towns and cities including Seattle. Her family were early settlers of North Idaho that traveled from St. Louis, MO and Canada at the turn of the 19th century. In her late teens she moved to San Carlos, CA and attended Sequoia High school in Redwood City where she met the love of her life Jim and they married in 1948 just after graduation.
Together with their new family they moved to San Leandro and then finally settled in Alamo in 1963. There she worked and retired from the SRVUSD where she worked at Monte Vista High school as a popular lunch lady. She also was one of the first people to volunteer at the Danville Thrift Station where she worked for over 50 years. She made countless friends and memories. She loved the Tri-Valley community and enjoyed watching local high schools sports while her five sons grew upin the valley.
Her favorite past time was being with family and close friends from California to Idaho. She kept a close friendship with many of her high school friends for over 75 years. Joan will forever be remembered for her kindness to others and her loving disposition to all.
There will be a private memorial by invitation. In lieu of any flowers, Joan requested you make a donation to your local food bank or favorite charity.
