Class 5A

1. Cherry Creek (8-0) won vs. Eaglecrest, 42-0: The Bruins defense posted its third shutout in four games in another dominant 5A Centennial League showing. Senior running back and UConn commit Jayden Fox ran in four touchdowns, the last coming early in the third quarter to go up 42-0, and senior quarterback Brady Vodicka had a pair of touchdown passes. Next week: at Smoky Hill, 7 p.m. Oct. 24.

2. Ralston Valley (8-0) won vs. Columbine, 35-21: Senior Zeke Andrews’ spectacular season continued Thursday, as the quarterback piled up 373 total yards and hooked up with Ethan Shirazi for a 90-yard catch-and-run touchdown early in the fourth quarter that proved to be the game-winning score. Andrews completed 21 of 27 passes for 273 yards and two TDs, and also ran 10 times for 100 yards and a score. Junior Sawyer Blomquist added a pair of rushing TDs, while Shirazi finished with six catches for 136 yards. Next week: at Denver East, 4 p.m. Oct. 23.

3. Mountain Vista (8-0) won vs. Fruita Monument, 62-7: The Golden Eagles put 49 points on the board by halftime and matched a season high for points scored in a game to move a win away from their second straight league title. Next week: at Rock Canyon, 7 p.m. Oct. 24.

4. Arvada West (8-0) won vs. Denver East, 48-0: The Wildcats defense shut out an opponent for the third time this season while the offense churned out another prolific night to move closer to a 5A Metro League showdown with Ralston Valley. Next week: vs. Chatfield, 4 p.m. Oct. 24.

5. Legend (8-1) won vs. No. 9 Fountain-Fort Carson, 56-13: The Titans’ all-systems juggernaut let loose, getting a punt return touchdown from Freddie Burke, two punt blocks from senior Peter Olmi, eight tackles for loss on defense and 394 total yards of offense. Senior QB DJ Bordeaux piled up 305 total yards (229 passing, 76 rushing), Ryken Banks had 145 total yards (79 rushing, 66 receiving) on 16 touches, and Ryan Iglesias caught four passes for 92 yards as the Titans took a 42-6 lead into halftime and never looked back. 6. Valor Christian (6-2) won vs. ThunderRidge, 49-7: Sophomore QB Titus Huard threw touchdown passes to Cash Spence and Jackson Coleman and also powered one in from a yard out to lead the Eagles to a second straight win. Channing Fox tacked on a pair of TD runs, and Chase Hanosh scored from 46 yards out in the rout. Next week: at Fruita Monument, 6 p.m. Oct. 23.

7. Fairview (7-1) won vs. Brighton, 45-15: Sabi Ruttgers got things started with a 9-yard rushing touchdown as the Knights took a 38-0 lead into the halftime break and triggered a running clock by the third quarter. Next week: at Fossil Ridge, 6:30 p.m. Oct. 23.

8. Erie (5-3) lost vs. Mullen, 18-6: The Tigers’ bid for a fifth straight league championship took a hit after the Mustangs traveled north and handed them their first league loss since 2020. Senior QB Cole Parsons threw three touchdown passes, and the Mullen defense didn’t allow a score until Gabe Sema’s TD reception with 3:50 left in the game. Next week: at Legacy, 7 p.m. Oct. 24.

9. Fountain-Fort Carson (6-2) lost at No. 5 Legend, 56-13: A week after taking down Regis Jesuit, the Trojans ran into a buzzsaw that ended their six-game win streak. Both of FFC’s losses have come against teams in the 5A Post Preps Top 10 (Arvada West and Legend). Next week: vs. Chaparral, 7 p.m. Oct. 24.

10. Pine Creek (5-3) won at Chaparral, 50-25: The Eagles reached the 50-point threshold for the second straight week. Except unlike last week’s 55-48 shootout win over Douglas County, the Pine Creek defense kept things drama-free by the final quarter. Next week: at Regis Jesuit, 6:30 p.m. Oct. 24.

Class 4A

1. Dakota Ridge (8-0) won vs. Highlands Ranch, 48-13: The Eagles scored touchdowns on offense, defense and special teams in yet another 4A South Metro League romp. Seniors Dylan Kellner and Landon Kalsbeck both returned fumbles for TDs, Deacon Lenhardt took an interception 62 yards to the house, and senior Nathan Rodriguez had two receptions for 146 yards and two scores and also returned a punt 47 yards for a TD. 2. Montrose (8-0) won vs. Mesa Ridge, 54-22: Senior running back Elijah Womack scored four touchdowns and Chase Mehan found the end zone three times, including on a pass from Cade Saunders, as the Red Hawks claimed their 25th straight regular-season win. Next week: vs. Widefield, 6 p.m. Oct. 24.

3. Palmer Ridge (8-0) won at No. 6 Vista Ridge, 41-7: Jake Coyle set the tone with back-to-back touchdown runs, and Cole Harris followed with touchdown passes to Magnus Newman and Carter Charron to give the Bears a 28-0 halftime lead. That was more than enough for the Palmer Ridge defense, which was a fourth-quarter TD shy of a shutout. Next week: vs. Rampart, 7 p.m. Oct. 24.

4. Broomfield (7-1) won at Grand Junction Central, 56-20: Kashus Clarvoe ran in three straight TDs to open up the festivities on the Western Slope, and the Eagles cruised to a third straight win ahead of a road trip to Riverdale Ridge next Friday that will decide the 4A North 2 League title. Next week: at No. 7 Riverdale Ridge, 7 p.m. Oct. 24.

5. Durango (6-2) won vs. Air Academy, 41-0: The Demons scored touchdowns on six straight drives, and the defense pitched its third shutout of the season to help Durango rebound from a loss at No. 3 Palmer Ridge a week earlier. Next week: vs. Liberty, 6 p.m. Oct. 24.

6. Vista Ridge (6-2) lost vs. No. 3 Palmer Ridge, 41-7: The Wolves lost for the sixth straight time to Palmer Ridge since 2020, with the Bears’ ability to continually convert on fourth down snowballing into a blowout win. Next week: at Air Academy, 7 p.m. Oct. 24.

7. Riverdale Ridge (8-0) won at Adams City, 68-0: The Ravens defense posted its third shutout of the season and ninth in the last two years to set up a home showdown with defending 4A champion Broomfield next Friday night. Riverdale Ridge has now scored 49 points or more in five straight games. Next week: vs. No. 4 Broomfield, 7 p.m. Oct. 24.

8. Monarch (6-2) won at Greeley West, 48-8: Junior running back Malakhi Payne topped 100 yards for the fifth straight week, turning 13 carries into 126 yards in the Coyotes’ third straight win. Junior QB Nico Rizzello was an efficient 10-of-12 passing for 115 yards and a TD, while Levi Carlucci returned two punts for touchdowns, the last one coming in the third quarter to give Monarch a 48-0 lead. Next week: vs. Frederick, 7 p.m. Oct. 23.

9. Pueblo West (6-2) won vs. Widefield, 51-0: A week after getting upset at Mesa Ridge, the Cyclones responded with a dominant whistle-to-whistle performance. Next week: at Falcon, 1 p.m. Oct. 25.

10. Sand Creek (8-0) won vs. Gateway, 48-6: The Scorpions entered uncharted territory with yet another rout, reaching eight wins for the first time in the MaxPreps era (starting 2004) after racing out to a 41-0 halftime lead. The defense was a fourth-quarter touchdown away from its third shutout in four games, while junior Ethan Mangrum exploded for 286 yards and five TDs on just 11 carries.
