‘Massive’ bee swarm removed from tree
This week, the Broomfield animal control team was called to a remove a bee swarm in a tree that is one of the largest they’ve ever seen, the police department said.
According to a post on X, animal services officers worked with a local beekeeper to safely collect and relocate the swarm.
The department asked that anyone who comes across a swarm of bees contact animal services at 303-438-6400. Reports of wasps should be directed to a licensed pest control service, according to the department.)

School of Statesmanship starts new discussion series
Anyone interested in civil discourse is invited to join “Pints and Perspectives,” a new discussion series about issues affecting the Longmont community and beyond.
Starting Thursday, the “Pints and Perspective” series will run biweekly through Oct. 30. The series is free, and no registration is required.
The series is co-hosted by the School of Statesmanship, Stewardship and Service. The Longmont-based nonprofit runs classes throughout the year focused on civility and leadership.
“Pints and Perspectives” is also co-hosted by Left Hand Brewing. The discussions will be held inside the Left Hand Tasting Room at 1265 Boston Ave., Longmont, 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays.
The series will conclude with four opportunities to meet candidates running for office in Longmont this year. Those meetings will be held in September and October. To learn more, visit lefthandbrewing.com/events.

Where to see F-16 flyovers Memorial Day
F-16 Viper jets from the Colorado Air National Guard’s 140th Wing will honor America’s fallen servicemembers this holiday weekend with flyovers of many areas across the state.
After taking off from Buckley Space Force Base in Aurora, the four fighter jets will pass over the Colorado Freedom Memorial in Aurora at 10 a.m. Saturday. On Monday, they’ll loft above Denver and several other areas.
