Thirty-four ladies hailing from Boulder and Broomfield counties and the surrounding areas graced their way onto CHSAA’s all-state lists, led by Daily Camera swimmer of the year, Monarch’s Eliza Lennox, and Niwot’s Izzy Fay, who was tabbed as the Times-Call and CHSAA 4A diver of the year.

Boulder’s Hazel Huilman led the 5A first-team effort with individual golds in the 100-yard butterfly (53.98 seconds) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1 minute, 2.50 seconds) while her teammate, Sloan Zallen, joined her on first team thanks to her performances in the 200 freestyle (second, 1:52.57) and the 500 free (fourth, 5:06.67). Fairview’s Lexi Byrn added her name to first team thanks to her 100 butterfly (third, 55.37) and 500 free (10th, 5:13.47).

Boulder’s Margaret Chester earned the lone 5A second-team nod in the 100 free (fifth, 52.38), as Fairview’s Marin DeNeen (200 individual medley, 100 breast), Ava Teunnisen (200 IM) and Abby Davis (100 backstroke) rounded out the 5A selections with honorable mentions.

Fay led the 4A first team as the diver of the year thanks to her repeat state title in the event (529.50 score).

She was joined by fellow state champions from Monarch, Lennox (50 free, 23.21; 100 free, 50.64; 200 medley relay, 1:46.08; 400 free relay, third, 3:36.57) and Audrey Shambo (100 breast, 1:03.60; 200 medley relay; 400 free relay; 200 IM, second, 2:04.31).

Other 4A first-teamers included Monarch’s Gwyneth Christensen (200 medley relay) and Sophia Banjo (200 medley relay; 100 fly, sixth, 58.76); Broomfield’s Ellie Foulke (200 IM, third, 2:07.43; 500 free, fourth, 5:06.73; 400 free relay, second, 3:35.05; 200 medley relay, third, 1:50.67); Ridley Hagerman (200 free, third, 1:51.62; 500 free, second, 4:57.79; 400 free relay; 200 medley relay); Myra Wherry (100 free, third, 51.88; 200 free, sixth, 1:56.12); and Centaurus’ Virginia Walsh (100 fly, third, 56.78; 100 back, second, 55.36).

Broomfield’s Marbury Wherry etched her name onto second team (400 free relay; 500 free, seventh, 5:16.01) alongside Centaurus’ Brayde Patik (100 back, fifth, 58.39; 200 free, seventh, 1:56.73; 200 free relay, third, 1:41.29) and Silver Creek’s Annika Sesselmann (100 breast, fourth, 1:09.77; 200 IM, eighth, 2:16.15).

A whole host of local athletes made 4A honorable mention, including Monarch’s Isabel Swarr (200 IM, 100 breast), Avery Zerwekh Reardon (400 free relay) and Ida Bodizs (400 free relay); Broomfield’s Karlie Chandra (200 medley relay); Niwot’s Kyrie Moorman (200 free, 500 free), Evie Saunders (diving) and Thalia Milam (diving); Longmont’s Alessia Daelli (100 free); and Centaurus’ Abby Fitzgerald (200 free relay, 100 breast), Arabella Marcus (200 free relay) and Josie Karr (200 free relay).

Holy Family, the lone local team in 3A, was led by first-teamer Lorelai Frauenfelder, who won state titles in the 50 free (23.27) and 100 free (51.15). Megan Grenzenbach took home second team in the 500 free (fifth, 5:23.75) and 200 free (sixth, 2:00.92), while Erin Chapman (diving) and Ashtyn Cooney (100 free) made honorable mention.
