
Soroptimist International of Eel River Valley recently recognized Alex Monreal and Lauren Terrell as its “Girls of the Month” for school spirit.
Monreal, daughter of Jaime and Andres Monreal, is a senior at East High School. Since age 12, Monreal has pursued their love of drawing, especially pictures of people. In addition, they have participated in the Gender-Sexuality Alliance Club and have been the school’s Citizen of the Week.
After graduation, Monreal plans to attend College of the Redwoods to pursue an associate degree in studio arts. Their goal is to be a graphic designer and to create digital art.
Terrell, a senior at Fortuna High School, is the daughter of Nadine Terrell. She has held various leadership positions in high school, including class secretary for three years and sport commissioner for a year. She has been involved in cheer for 12 years and was an “All-American” cheerleader in 2024. She is also a cheer coach. Terrell participated in “Every 15 Minutes” in her junior year and is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
After graduating, Terrell plans to attend university in San Diego to pursue a career as an OB/GYN, with plans to practice in a community health environment.
