Lisa Azalea - nee Wormhoudt, a Santa Cruz fixture, passed away on October 28th, 2024. Her death was a result of multiple health issues over the last several months.
Lisa’s early life was spent in Pasadena before moving to Santa Cruz California. She graduated San Lorenzo High School and prior attended Blair High School in Pasadena. She went on to study at Cabrillo College and the University of California Santa Barbara.
Santa Cruz was home for Lisa, and she embraced the beautiful beaches and redwood forests as part of her life. She loved to stroll on the beaches and spend time in downtown Santa Cruz. She found deep pleasure engaging with family and a wide variety of friends.
Throughout her life, she was involved with many non-profit organizations such as Santa Cruz Connection. She had a particular interest in assisting people with mental health issues. Lisa’s presence in Santa Cruz touched many people and as anyone who knew her can attest, she was a great listener and thoughtful with her words. She was loved and cared for by the many people she encountered through her volunteer work. The family wishes to thank all the people who came into her life and supported her in numerous ways.
Lisa was born to Mardi and Ken Wormhoudt in San Francisco, California in 1959. She is survived by her three brothers, Jonathan, Zachary and Jacob Wormhoudt as well as her aunt and uncle Mary McDevitt and Daniel Rolfs; and extended family and friends including nieces and nephews. Lisa’s sense of humor, love for literature and determination will be dearly missed.
A celebration of Lisa’s life will take place at 1:00 PM on December 14, 2004, at the La Feliz Room &Terrace at the Seymore Marine Discovery Center. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request people make donations to Santa Cruz Connection in her name.
