Woander, a new family play store dedicated to inspiring creativity, imagination and connection through games and storytelling, opened its doors this month in Mill Valley.
Founded by Mill Valley resident Matthew Purdon, whose two kids test out his creative ideas, the store offers a curated selection of games, books, toys and puppets.
It also hosts an array of events, including summer camps and game nights for kids, teens and adults.
“I believe that people feel more connected to each other when participating in live entertainment experiences. I love bringing people together to create communities around these unique live experiences, whether that’s an immersive adventure, a role-playing game or an interactive puppet show. They all invite participation and play, bringing joy and connection,” said Purdon, who studied theater at Northwestern University and has more than 25 years of experience working as a creative and product executive for new and emerging businesses.
“I believe creativity, collaboration and communication are the skills that we need to develop in young people to take on the challenges this world faces. Imaginative play is one of the best ways to develop and strengthen those skills in a safe environment.”
The store is at 73 Throckmorton Ave. in Mill Valley. Hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays; closed Tuesdays.
