No, there’s no new Gavin Newsom

Re “Is there a new Gavin Newsom?” (March 9):

This is a Gavin Newsom who realizes that what got him elected in California won’t work with the country as a whole. The recent election made that crystal clear.

So, there’s no time like the present to start the perception surgery. And he needs to, since in two years, he becomes a non-entity.

But the media and the Democratic Party machine can do wonders in the image-generation world.

Their management of Joe Biden is the latest demonstration proof.

Get ready to see “clarification” of his views on DEI, WFH, immigration, homelessness, crime, climate change, and so on.

But, he has another problem. His track record. On all the dimensions that determined the election , his track record in California is a disaster.

The rest of the country knows it. Spinning that track record into a winning campaign will be a tall order for even the finest spin masters.

And then, of course, there’s Kamala, and Gretch and Joel.

Stater Bros. layoffs

Re “Stater Bros. hands out its first layoffs” (March 7):

How interesting, the article in the newspaper March 8 stating that CEO Peter Van Halden states layoffs are due to high energy cost and labor increases and “Trump’s tariffs.”

We might want to remind the public that the increases in labor are due to Gavin Newsom, and the increase in energy cost is the fallout of the Biden administration’s “Green New Deal“ fiasco.

President Trump has not yet implemented his tariffs at this point, so even mentioning his name in this article is wrong in so many ways. This economy at present is the direct result of the incompetence of the Biden administration, period!

Chief Kristin Crowley

Re “Former LAFD chief is heading to post in San Fernando Valley” (March 6):

If Bass fired Crowley and the City Council didn’t override it, then why is she being demoted to a position of authority over the San Fernando Valley?

The mayor and City Council do not have confidence in Crowley, yet confidence enough for us Valley folk?
